According to tradition, the Hopi would be led underground to safety at the sipapu just before a cleansing apocalypse. They were warned of the upcoming apocalypse by sky spirits signaling them to travel to the sipapu.

Velvet Eyes was created by Stan Lamontagne, french photographer and graphic-designer, whose work highlights our relationship with Nature. New curator at Velvet Eyes, Ilias Lois is a photographer based in Athens involved in the contemporary Greek photography scene.
